In the process of raising a child, one of the fundamental parts of their growth is training and management of free time.
Surely as a parent you only want the best for your child; you send them to the best schools, make sure they can meet people of a certain intellect, combine sports activities with activities such as the piano or etiquette, and many other activities that prepare them to enter the world of adults with a certain cultural background.
Taking a study trip is also a choice that will shape both their character and education and will lead them to begin to know the world outside their city.
ABH method
In my years of experience in the field of study trips, however, I have noticed that there are important problems.
Often, those who send their children on the classic study trips have a series of complaints that I wish to elaborate.
If your child has already taken a “classic” study trip, you will agree with me, if instead you are asking, it is right that you should know, in order to evaluate with all the necessary information available.
Some of the problems of the classic study trips
- They don't learn a word of English.
- They stay in places well below a level that your child is used to.
- The lessons are boring and not useful, too similar to what they do in school.
- They risk finding themselves in unpleasant situations.
- They eat badly and almost always it's fast food.
- They hang out with unvetted people.
- They carries out activities for their own sake.
In short, you invest money to see your child return worse, at best. You also run the risk of wasting years of investments in their education, that is, of seeing everything they have studied and implemented so far vanish due to having frequented places and people not suitable for their growth.
The ROI (return on investment) of these "study" trips is certainly not positive ... it means that you not only spend money without your child having fun and learning something, but you also risk having an experience that makes them lose enthusiasm or associate with unsuitable people.
As a parent, as a father, and as a mother you have to protect your children, avoiding the years of hard work on their growth going up in smoke because of the wrong study trip.
Having a child who can continue your path of success, manage your company in the future, or train to become a happy and satisfied person, passes through these seemingly small details.
Sending your child abroad to learn English is certainly important, your child can deal with different realities and, in the meantime, learn the basics of another language or reinforce the basics they already have, but you can't just have them go anywhere, with anyone.

Starting from what and with whom they study, to food and accommodation, as well as guided tours and extracurricular activities, everything must be taken care of in detail to enjoy the trip, have fun, and learn something important for the future and expand your child’s knowledge base.
What usually happens is that these details are ignored.
I can give you some examples of what is ignored by the various companies that organize study trips:
The counsellors are all Italian, often only Italian is spoken throughout the experience except during the language lessons in the classroom.
To widen the offer, the quality is lowered by forgetting that today, the only language of business and success is American English, while British English has remained the choice of those with limited views or means.
However the level of English in the classroom is low because it is a generic experience which deals with situations of everyday life, just like at school. Half of the time they spend in a closed, squalid classroom, taking grammar lessons when the real world is outside waiting for them.
Often they are low cost holidays or in any case with a low budget dedicated to students’ comfort.
For healthy and strong growth, food is important, however, in the best case scenario, they spend the week at McDonald’s.
The visits are the classic ones they would do on a school trip, interesting but not very functional both for the study of the language and for training.
The group of kids, being open to all, is made up of people with an education and social background different from what you would like for your child, people you would not want them to frequent when they are home, and who are now with them every day.
What influence will they have on them?
In short, sending your children on a study trip where they will not have fun, will not know people at their level, will not learn the language and also risks getting sick, is certainly not the best way to make them grow and learn the language.

If 10 or 15 years ago going to England to learn English was one of the best things to do,
now, with the US dominated business world, it no longer makes any sense. It’s like someone who only speaks dialect when everyone speaks Italian.
London has lost its central role, even the children of Londoners of a certain level plan study trips to the United States.
England has become more of a mass tourist destination that has little to do with education.
Nowadays only those who still think with a small-town mentality see London as a successful destination in which to invest for the future of their children.
In English there are a lot of dialect inflections that make it difficult to understand what a Welshman is saying compared to Scottish or Irish speaking British English.
British English has now become like Latin, a dead language spoken only by those born in England.
The only language that unites everyone is American.
American like Disney and his films, American like Hollywood and the whole world of cinema, like your favorite TV series.
American, like 90% of the singers you listen to.
We are in contact with the American language every day and therefore it is complete nonsense to learn British English and not American, now.
The business world moves with American English, the highest paid managers are trained in the US, the most capitalized companies in the world reside in the United States, cinema, music, technology, everything starts in America.
If you really want to train your child and give them a great growth opportunity, there is only one choice.
